Step 1: Enter Your Cost Details
The calculator is divided into intuitive sections to cover all aspects of calf rearing. Click the accordion headers to expand each category and input your data:
- Calf Information: Enter the purchase price (or market value for home-bred calves) and the number of days for milk feeding before weaning.
- Whole Milk Feeding: If using whole milk, input the litres fed per day and the cost per litre.
- Milk Replacer Feeding: For milk replacer, specify the cost per ton and grams fed daily.
- Concentrate Feeding: Add the cost per ton of calf starter mix and total kilograms consumed.
- Veterinarian Costs: Include vaccination and other vet expenses (e.g., castration, dehorning).
- Bedding Costs: Enter the cost per ton and total kilograms of bedding (e.g., straw).
- Mortality Costs: Specify your expected calf mortality rate as a percentage.
- Labour Costs: Input labour hours per calf and the cost per hour.
- Fixed Costs: Add housing, equipment, and other fixed expenses.
- Sundry/Misc Costs: Include miscellaneous costs like tags or calf jackets.
