The Livestock Feed Mix Calculator is a powerful tool designed to help you create and analyze Total Mixed Rations (TMR) for your livestock. By entering ingredient details and the number of heads, you can calculate key nutritional and cost metrics to optimize your feed strategy. Follow these steps to get started and download a PDF summary of your feed mix.
Step-by-Step Guide
- Enter Total Heads:
- In the “Total Heads” field, input the number of livestock you are feeding. This helps calculate per-head metrics like fresh weight and cost.
- Add Feed Ingredients:
- In the table, enter the name of each feed ingredient (e.g., silage, maize, soya).
- For each ingredient, input the following:
- Quantity (kg): The weight of the ingredient in kilograms.
- Cost (£/t): The cost per ton of the ingredient.
- DM (%): Dry matter percentage.
- ME (MJ/kg DM): Metabolizable energy in megajoules per kilogram of dry matter.
- CP (%): Crude protein percentage.
- NDF (%): Neutral detergent fiber percentage.
- Starch (%): Starch percentage.
- Sugar (%): Sugar percentage.
- Click the “Add Ingredient” button to include additional feedstuffs as needed.
- Review Calculated Metrics:
- As you input data, the calculator automatically computes:
- Total fresh weight (kg)
- Total cost (£)
- Fresh weight per head (kg)
- Cost per head (£)
- Dry matter per head (kg)
- Dry matter percentage (%)
- Weighted averages for ME, CP, NDF, Starch, and Sugar
- These metrics appear in the summary section below the table.
- As you input data, the calculator automatically computes:
