Slurry Storage Planning Tips
- 1.NVZ regulations require a minimum of 4 months storage capacity for cattle and pig slurry.
- 2.A 25% safety buffer is recommended above your calculated need to allow for rainfall and wash water.
- 3.Slurry stores must be impermeable and fitted with appropriate overflow prevention under the Farming Rules for Water.
- 4.The Slurry % column allows you to account for systems where some manure is collected as solid FYM rather than slurry.
- 5.Consult a FACTS-qualified advisor or AHDB before making major storage investments.
